In a significant step aimed at strengthening Railway Security, especially in vulnerable regions adjoining India’s western borders, the Ministry of Railways has issued a policy directive allowing the re-engagement of retired RPF Constables and Head Constables, as well as contractual hiring of Ex-servicemen, Home Guards, and MSF personnel. This hybrid proposal reflects the government’s proactive stance in addressing manpower shortages while leveraging the rich experience of trained veterans.
Background and Context
With growing security concerns due to the ongoing conflict near international borders, various railway divisions that lie close to these zones are in critical need of experienced and reliable security personnel. Recognizing this urgency, the Railway Board has approved a temporary re-engagement and hiring policy, facilitating the inclusion of experienced ex-servicemen and retired RPF staff.
