Disability pension
Disability pension is awarded to defense personnel who sustain injuries or suffer from diseases that impair their ability to serve and such disability must be casused due to military service or aggravated by military service which is commonly termed as attributable/aggravated by military service. This pension is typically calculated based on the rank, length of service, and the degree of disability, thus ensuring that the financial support is proportional to the individual’s service contribution and the extent of their impairments. Disability pension is applicable for invalided out cases only after implication of GMO 2023.
Invalid Pension
On the other hand, invalid pension is provided to those who are incapacitated and can no longer perform their duties effectively but the disability assessed as not attributable and not aggravated by military service and who have not completed minimum pensionable service i.e less than 15 years for JCOs/OR. This pension is intended to ensure financial security for affected individuals and their families, recognizing the unique challenges they face.
Impairment Relief
Impairement relief is awarded to defense personnel who sustain injuries or suffer from diseases that impair their ability to serve and such disability must be casused due to military service or aggravated by military service which is commonly termed as attributable/aggravated by military service. This relief is typically calculated based on the rank, length of service, and the degree of disability, thus ensuring that the financial support is proportional to the individual’s service contribution and the extent of their impairments. However applicability of DR on impairement relief is not confirmed till date. Impairement relief is applicable for non invalided out case only from Sept 2023.
