The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the recruitment of Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar in CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) and CBN (Central Bureau of Narcotics) for the year 2025. This presents a valuable opportunity for 10th-pass candidates, including Ex-Servicemen (ESM), to apply for Group ‘C’ non-gazetted posts under the Government of India.
Posts and Reservation
The recruitment includes two primary posts:
- MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff)
- Havaldar in CBIC & CBN
Reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) is available as per Government of India norms. ESM candidates can take advantage of this reservation during the application process.
Definition of Ex-Servicemen (ESM)
As per the notification, Ex-Servicemen include:
- Those who have served in the Army, Navy, or Air Force.
- Personnel retired or discharged with pension, including on medical grounds or due to a reduction in force.
- Pensioners from the Armed Forces Postal Service (APS) and Territorial Army (TA) are also considered ESM.
Age Relaxation and Limits
The SSC provides 3 years of age relaxation to ESM candidates after deducting the period of military service from the actual age. For SC/ST candidates disabled in operations, the age relaxation is up to 8 years, while for others disabled in operations, it is up to 3 years.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent examination on or before 01-08-2025 to be eligible for the recruitment process.
Documents Required for ESM
Ex-Servicemen applying for the posts are required to produce the following documents:
- Discharge Certificate
- Undertaking as per Annexure-VIII
- Serving Certificate (only if still in service, as per Annexure-VII)
Physical Test Exemption for ESM
For the post of Havaldar, ESM candidates who are also classified as Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) and have valid medical proof, are eligible for exemption from the Walking Test under PET/PST (Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Standard Test).
Preference Filling Guidelines
Candidates must be careful while selecting their Post, State, UT, or CCA codes during the application process. No changes will be allowed later, so it is important to make the selections attentively.
Reservation Clarification
It is clearly stated that reservation benefits are not applicable to sons, daughters, or dependents of Ex-Servicemen. Only the ESM candidates themselves are eligible for the reservation benefits.
Application and Exam Dates
The application window is open from 26 June to 24 July 2025. The Computer-Based Examination (CBE) is scheduled to be held between 20 September and 24 October 2025.
