Retirement Age 62 Years for Govt Emloyees ? Check the reality

Govt employees are generally retired on superannuation at the age of 60 years. Armed Forces personnel are gnerally retired at compartively young age. They have some other conditions also, i.e length of service and medical profile etc.

A news item published in a blog has created wide movement in the career planning of Govt employees. They are demanding that the Govt has decided to increase the retirement age by 2 years. They also published that this decision has been taken by the parliament and will be released soon by the govt.

They also claimed that the government was considering this proposal for a long time and now it has been approved in the cabinet meeting. They included that this decision will come into effect from 01 April 2025.

We have gone through the PIB Release and official websites of Govt of India, DOP&T, DOP&PW and all related websites of Govt of India. It has been found that, no such proposal or approval is there to increase retirement age up to 62 years of age. The news items published by the website proved to be Fake and has no basis.
