Medical facilities are like Insurance. We feel necessity, when we fall ill. In general course, it seems not essential. But today We will let you know about the ABHA registration for ECHS beneficiaries. What is Abha and why this is uimportant for ECHS ? Answer of all these questions are here.
A major relief for Ex-Servicemen (ESM), serving families, and dependents under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) is expected soon. As per a message circulated from Polyclinic Kolkata, treatment facilities for ECHS beneficiaries at AIIMS Kalyani are likely to commence from 01 June 2026.
To ensure smooth and paperless treatment at AIIMS Kalyani, beneficiaries are required to complete registration through the ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) system before visiting the hospital.
What is ABHA?
ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is a unique 14-digit digital health ID launched under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) of the Government of India. It enables citizens to securely store and access their health records digitally across participating healthcare institutions.
The ABHA number acts as a digital identity in hospitals and helps in:
- Faster patient registration
- Digital storage of prescriptions and medical records
- Easy sharing of health records with doctors
- Reduced paperwork during treatment
- Seamless access to healthcare services across participating hospitals
How to Create an ABHA Number
Beneficiaries are advised to create their ABHA account before visiting AIIMS Kalyani.
Step 1: Download the ABHA App
Download the official ABHA mobile application from:
The app is developed by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Government of India.
Step 2: Complete One-Time Registration
- Open the app.
- Register using Aadhaar or mobile number.
- Verify through OTP.
- Generate your unique 14-digit ABHA Number.

ABHA registration is generally required only once in a lifetime.

Medical reports, prescriptions, and treatment history can be linked digitally, reducing the need to carry large volumes of documents.
Better Continuity of Treatment
Doctors can access previous treatment records (with patient consent), helping in better diagnosis and treatment planning.
Secure and Consent-Based Access
Health data is shared only with the patient’s consent, ensuring privacy and security of medical information.
