AGIF Latest Policy Update for Ex-Servicemen

The Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) has introduced important policy updates for serving soldiers and ex-servicemen. These changes have come into effect from 1 April and aim to strengthen the financial security of soldiers and their families.

The updated provisions include:

  • Increased insurance coverage
  • Extended insurance after retirement
  • Higher interest rate on Maturity Fund (MMF)
  • Simplified claim procedure through Zila Sainik Board

Increase in Insurance Cover

AGIF has increased the insurance cover available to soldiers. Details are as under –

Regular Army Officers

  • Maximum Insurance Cover: ₹1.25 Crore
  • Disability Cover: ₹25 Lakh
  • Monthly Contribution: ₹12,500

JCOs / OR

  • Maximum Insurance Cover: ₹75 Lakh
  • Disability Cover: ₹12.5 Lakh
  • Monthly Contribution: ₹7,500

This enhancement ensures better financial protection for families in case of unforeseen events.

Extended Insurance After Retirement (EI)

AGIF now offers Extended Insurance (EI) coverage even after retirement.

Officers

  • Insurance Cover: ₹30 Lakh
  • Coverage Duration: 26 years or up to 80 years of age

JCOs / OR

  • Insurance Cover: ₹15 Lakh
  • Coverage Duration: 30 years or up to 75 years of age

Refundable Premium

  • Officers: ₹2.75 Lakh
  • JCOs/OR: ₹1.2 Lakh

This scheme ensures that retired soldiers continue to remain financially protected even after leaving service.

Increased Interest Rate on MMF

The interest rate on the Maturity Fund (MMF) has been increased.
