Indian Air Force Recruitment 2026 in Officers  Cadre – AFCAT 01/2026 & NCC Special Entry (Courses Commencing January 2027)

Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced recruitment for men and women from Indian citizens to join as Commissioned Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) branches. The recruitment will be conducted through AFCAT 01/2026 and NCC Special Entry, for courses starting in January 2027.

Type of Commission to be awarded to IAF Officers

Short Service Commission (SSC):

  • Flying Branch: 14 years from commissioning.
  • Ground Duty (Tech & Non-Tech): Initially for 10 years, extendable to 14 years based on service needs and performance.

Permanent Commission (PC):

  • May be granted later based on policy, vacancies and performance.

Educational Qualifications required for IAF Officers cadre

Flying Branch:

  • Graduation with minimum 50% marks, and
  • 50% marks in Physics & Mathematics at 10+2,
  • OR B.E./B.Tech with minimum 50% marks.

Ground Duty (Technical):

  • B.E./B.Tech in relevant engineering discipline with minimum 50%.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical):

  • Graduation or post-graduation in relevant subjects with minimum 50%.

NCC Special Entry:

  • NCC ‘C’ Certificate in Air Wing with minimum ‘B’ Grade.

Training & Allowances Applicable to IAF Officers

  • Training will be conducted at Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.
  • Candidates receive stipend during training.
  • After commissioning, officers receive pay as per 7th CPC, allowances & benefits such as:
    • Insurance
    • Medical & CSD facilities
    • Travel concessions
    • Accommodation

Selection Process for Indian Air Force Officers Cadre

  1. AFCAT Online Written Exam
  2. AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) Interview
  3. Medical Examination
  4. Final Merit List

NCC Special Entry candidates are directly called for AFSB Interview (no AFCAT exam).
