Detailed Process for Applying ECHS Card for Dependent above 25 Years

ECHS facility is applicable to veterans and their eligible family members only. This provision has been updated which you need to know. Lets read the text below for details please.

  • As per existing ECHS policy, a male child dependent on Ex-Servicemen (ESM) loses ECHS entitlement after 25 years of age.
  • However, in exceptional cases, a male child (above 25 years) may continue to avail medical facilities if:
    • A Court Order directs it, OR
    • Special sanction is granted by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
  • Since the ECHS card gets automatically blocked after 25 years, a special procedure is required to reactivate/issue the card.
