8th Pay Commission Impact for Soldiers Govt Employees and Pensioners

After a long waiting on 16th Jan 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has anounced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accredited the establishment of the eighth Central Pay Commission to revise salaries and pension of lakhs of Central Govt employees and pensioners including soldiers and veterans.

Speaking at a press briefing on cabinet in New Delhi, Vaishnaw highlighted the historical significance of pay commissions since the India’s independence in 1947.

“For your awareness, our Prime Minister has approved the establishment of the 8th Central Pay Commission for all central government employees,” the minister said, underscoring the government’s commitment to maintaining a consistent schedule for pay commission reviews.

The last pay commission, the seventh Central Pay Commission, was initiated in 2016 and is about to complete its term in 2026. Vaishnaw emphasised that formation of the 8th CPC well advance at early 2025 will allow enough time to check and finalize recommendations. This proactive technique, he brought, will enable the authorities to put in force adjustments efficaciously earlier than the contemporary CPC’s term ends.

“The 7th Pay Commission started in 2016, and its time period will be finished in 2026. Following the Prime Minister’s dedication to maintaining a normal rhythm, the eighth Central Pay Commission is being formed to make sure well timed revisions,” Vaishnaw delivered.
