Armed Forces personnel are generally retired at too young age and average age of their retirement is 40 years. At this age they need to be reemployed with good salary at least their last pay should be protected. In order to get reemployed , govt has provided reservation facility for ESM so that they can compete the newly college passout students.
Authority for Reservation in Govt Jobs – DOP&T OM dated 04 Oct 2012 and DESW letter No 0049/D (Res)/DGR/Coord dated 15 Oct 2024 (Processed by DGR/ DESW).
(i) Reservation Quota in PSBs & CPSUs.
The existing quota of reservations available for Veterans in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) in which widows can apply are as follows:-
(aa) 14.5% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘C’ Posts.
(ab) 24.5% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘D’ Posts.
Note: This includes 4.5% for Disabled Veterans and Dependents of Service personnel killed in action (Applicable to widows also).
(ii) Central Civil Services & Posts (CCS&P) of Central Government Ministries/ Departments quota for Veterans is as follows:-
(aa) 10% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘C’ Posts.
(ab) 20% in all Direct Recruitment Group ‘D’ Posts. However, no such Gp D post exist in Central Civil services. all such posts are upgraded to Gp C.
Note: The benefit of reservation has been extended to two dependents (including widows) and given Priority II-A to secure a job in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ categories of posts under Central Govt Org.
