JCOs/OR may also be Appointed as the Secretary of Soldier Board

As usual you have seen that Col or Capt(IN) or Gp Capt etc ranks are holding the post of Secretary/Chairman of Zila Sainik Board. But have you ever thought that why not any JCOs/ OR in this post ? What prevents them from being selected for this posts. A number of Exservicemen JCOs/OR are holding Gp A/ Gazettted/top administrative posts in various Govt/PSU organisation then why not in Sainik Board ? the matter has been raised by the vetarans organisations and it has been agreed by the authority in principle that, the recruitment reules can be cahnged accordingly for the post of the Management of Sainik Boards.

Once the recruitment rule is amended, the eligible JCOs/OR will be appointed for the Secretary, District/State Sainik Boards. Lets know the eligibility criteria for the post.

The qualifications and criteria for appointment as Secretary in a Zila Sainik Board (District Ex-Servicemen Welfare Board) in India are as follows:

    • Should not have any criminal record or pending cases

    • Knowledge of local language and culture
    • Familiarity with ex-servicemen welfare schemes and policies
  7. Selection process:
    • Typically involves a written test, interview, or both
    • May include a screening test to shortlist candidates.
