ESSA Scholarship for Wards of Army Personnel

In India, the Indian Army does offer educational benefits and scholarships for the children of army personnel as part of their welfare and support programs. These scholarships and benefits can cover various levels of education, from school to college and beyond. They aim to provide financial assistance and support to the families of army personnel. ESSA is such an important Scholarship program, an initiative of AWES. Recently, a notification has been published by AWES on this program. You may apply after checking your eligibility and other details. Original notification is available at the bottom of this page.

  1. Important aspects of Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel (ESSA) for Academic Year 2022-2023 are presented in succeeding Paras.

Where to Submit Application for ESSA ?

  • Applications are required to be submitted online by the eligible applicants. Online application format will be available on AWES website www.awesindia.com. No offline application will be considered for payment of scholarship and issue of Merit certificates.

Eligibility Criteria for ESSA

  • The eligibility conditions are as under:-
  • Wards of all serving Army personnel and MNS Officers. Applicant / ward must not have attained 25 years of age at the time of completion of class/course from IX to PG level of education.
  • Wards of Retired Army personnel, Territorial Army personnel (TA) and deceased Army personnel are not eligible.

Method of Selection and Award of Scholarship

  • Cut off percentage to receive applications for various classes and categories are as under:-

6. Once the applications are received based on cut off percentages, merit list will be drawn for award of scholarships based on allotment of funds for the present financial year.

Amount of Scholarship

  • The amount of scholarships, based on the levels of education for all categories are as under:-

Merit Certificate in ESSA

  • Merit certificates will be issued online to all eligible applicants.

Timelines for ESSA Scholarship

  • The applications should pertain to the declared results of the immediate preceding academic year between 01 Oct of the preceding year and 30 Sep of the current year (i.e, applications will be processed this year for the period from 01 Oct 2022 to 30 Sep 2023).
  1. As per guidelines of AO 04/2021/AG/CW last date for receipt of application is 30 Nov 2023. Any change in the last date of receipt of application beyond 30 Nov 2023 will be updated on AWES website at an appropriate stage.

Times of India Merit Scholarship

  1. R&W Section, CW Dte (DIAV) dealing with Mls Times of India scholarship allots the vacancies for scholarships for professional courses i.e for Engineering, Medical, MBA, MCA, Mass Communication and Journalism. Particulars of applicants fcr award of above scholarships will be fwd by this HCP to R&W Sec.
  1. No separate application fcr award of Times of India Merit scholarship shall be forwarded to R&W Sec, CW Dte (DIAV). However, only one scholarship is entitled to a student in an academic year.

Mode of Payment of ESSA Scholarship

  1. Amount of scholarship will be transferred to the applicants based on bank details given in applications through NEFT/RTGS mode.
