Ministry of Defence has published PIB release on 23 Dec 2022 regarding revision of pension of the Armed Forces Personnel under OROP Scheme wef 01 July 2019. Five detailed points containing important information as mentioned in the official notification of MoD are here :
Point 1 : Eligibility Criteria to get OROP Revision and Arrears
The Armed Forces personnel retired up to 30 June 2019 will be covered under this revision. However Armed Forces persons taken pre-mature (PMR) retirement w.e.f. 01 July 2014 are not eligible to get OROP Revision. There is a self contradiction of orders issued by MoD earlier in this regard . The benefit of OROP revision would also be extended to family pensioners, including war widows and disabled pensioners (invalid cases). However the Govt authority has not mentioned the tentative date of payment of revised pension and Arrears. ESM community is expecting to get the Revised payment on 31 Dec 2022 and Arrears by 1st Week of January 2023. Lets see what the reality says.
Point 2 : Who have been benefitted with OROP Scheme
Defence ministry has confirmed that, more than 25.13 lakh Armed Forces Pensioners/family pensioners will be benefitted with this OROP Scheme. MoD has mentioned in the PIB release that over 4.52 lakh new pensioners will be benefited wih the OROP revision wef 01 July 2019.
Point 3 : Minimum and Maximum Pension benefit under OROP
The table shows that pensioners held the Rank of Hav are getting the minimum increase in pension i.e fom Rs 20,066 to Rs 22,294 only whereas that of Brigadier are getting maximum increase in pension i.e from Rs 96,555/- to Rs 1,12,596/-.
Point 4 : If your are already getting higher Pension that average pension mentioned in the OROP Revised table ?
You need not to be worried. Pension of the ESM and Family pensioners those drawing more pension than the average pension determined by the OROP latest Table, your higher pension shall be protected.
Point 5 : What about Arrears and possible date of Revision Work to be started
As per the Govt notification the Revision has been worked out as on two effect dates i.e 01 July 2019 and 01 July 2021. After completion of your revision the arrears will be credit on half yearly basis in four Equal Installments. So you will get your arrears within 2 years. However Family pensioners and Gallantry award winners will get their arrears at one pay soon. It is execcted that the Armed Forces pensioners will get the revised pension from next months.

In pension table there is no mention about the Captain and Subedar Rank . Are both are not beneficiary ?
