MBBS Admission in Defence Quota : Eligibility and Application process

After publication of NEET result, eligible candidates may apply for MBBS admission for their words as per SOP. However for admission of state medical colleges, NEET UG Counseling has been started for every states and Central.

  1. Eligibility Criteria:-
  • Scheme is open to Indian Nationals only.
  • Only wards/widows/wives of Defence Personnel from Army, Navy&Air Force from Priority-I to Priority-IX are eligible for the scheme.
  • Selection of candidates for Central seats reserved for Govt of India Nominee will be made on the basis of marks obtained by the student in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by CBSE. Candidates who do not qualify the NEET should not apply.
  • Wards of civilians/civilians working in AFHQ/MoD, DRDO, wards of personnel from Para Military/CAPF are not eligible.
  • This facility is admissible for only one member of the family once in lifetime.
  • Candidates should have attained the age of 17 years on 31 December of the academic session in which the admission is sought for.
  • Son of Servicemen/ Ex-servicemen who are more than 25 years of age are not eligible. Daughters if married and are not dependent, should not apply.
  • Instructions:-

The following instructions are given for information and guidance of the eligible applicants:-

  • Applications by eligible candidate will be submitted online on KSB website i.e.www.ksb.gov.inalong with supporting documents as given in para 4 below. The last date of submitting online application will be twenty days from the date of announcement of NEET result. No offline application will be entertained.
  • Serving Personnel will submit application online along with scanned copies of documents duly authenticated by OIC Records as per para 4.
  • A wrong or misleading entry will lead to rejection of the application.
  • Selected candidates will be informed directly by the Kendriya Sainik Board, Ministry of Defence, West Block-IV, Wing No. 7, RK Puram, New Delhi- 110066 through email and telephonically about the date of counselling.
  • Selected candidates who want to appear/not appear in counselling should send his/her willingness/ unwillingness telephonically as well as by the Fax No. 011-26192362, e-mail ID:-jd.cksb-mod@gov.in and by post also within specified date given by KSB Sectt. Format of Willingness/Unwillingness certificate is attached as Appendices ‘A’& ‘B’.

  • Candidature of those selected candidates who fail to appear for the counselling on specified date will be cancelled and his / her seat will be passed to the next candidate in merit*.

*(If for unavoidable reason, the date of counselling is not as per the convenience of the candidate, he/she has to informed in writing (e-mail) requesting for a subsequent date. Such extension of counselling date is permitted only once).

  • Any candidate to whom MBBS/BDS seat is offered but he/she fails to give willingness/unwillingness certificate by specific date mentioned by KSB Sectt, his/her candidature will be cancelled and his/her seat will be passed to the next candidate in merit. Nomination made will be subject to the candidate fulfilling the admission requirements of the Institution/University concerned.

  • Candidature and admission of an applicant, admitted on the basis of the information furnished by him/her and subsequently found to have made any false statement in any respect, will be cancelled and will be expelled from the college. Fees and other dues paid by the candidate shall NOT be refunded.
  • Candidate admitted against the reserved seats will have to execute a Bond with the Government of India, Ministry of Health or the State Government or the Administration of Union Territory as the case may be to serve theGovernment concerned for the specified period after qualifying for registration as a Medical/Dental Graduate.
  • If selected candidate is refused admission by the Medical/Dental College concerned due to non-fulfillment of admission requirements he/she will not have any claim for his/her transfer or admission to some other Medical/Dental college.
  • The seat offered will be final and no request for change will be entertained. Candidates who fail to send their acceptance by the prescribed date will forfeit their nomination.
  • Applications are to be submitted online only for MBBS and BDS courses on KSB Sectt website www.ksb.gov.in as per online format of application form.
  • The attested photocopies of the supporting documents both by Director, Rajya/Zila Sainik Board and OIC Records, in case of actual and legitimate children (including validly adopted sons/daughters prior to the death of the deceased), are to be uploaded with application form.
  • The selection within Priority-V will be strictly in the order of Gallantry awards.
  • The Candidates must clearly mention the Priority in his/her application as listed below:-

Priority-I         :Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action. Priority-II                        :Wards of disabled in action and boarded out from service.

Priority-III       :Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died while in service with death attributable to military service.

Priority-IV       :Wards of disabled in service and boarded out with disability attributable to military service.

Priority-V        : Wards of Ex-Servicemen and serving personnel who are in receiptof Gallantry Awards:-

Priority VIII    : Wards of Serving Personnel.

Priority IX     : Wives of Serving Personnel.

  • All Eligibility Certificateswill be recommended by the ZSB of the individual soldier/airmen/sailor/JCOs/Officers and countersigned by the Director RSBs.In case of serving personnel only (Under Priority-V, VII, VIII & IX) the eligibility certificate to be signed byCO/OC Unit orOIC Records.
  • Litigation if any, are restricted to jurisdiction of Delhi Courts only.
  • Instructions given above are to be used as guidelines only, these are subject to change without notice as per Medical Council of India/Ministry of Health rulings issued from time to time.

3.           Criteria for Drawing Merit List/Selection

  • Merit list will be prepared priority wise and within each priority as per the NEET score. The merit list will be uploaded on the website on finalization.
  • The allocation of seats will be on priority basis, first the candidate in Priority I will be accommodated and the left over seats from Priority I will be given to Priority II and so on.

  • CHECK LIST FOR DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED WITH THE APPLICATION FORM.            The following documents are to be uploaded with the application form:-
  • Self attested photocopy of the marks-sheet of Matriculation examination.
  • Self attested photocopy of the marks-sheet of 10+2 or equivalent examination.
  • Self attested copy of Result/Merit of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
  • Eligibility certificate will be duly signed by ZSB and countersigned by Director RSBs. For serving personnel in priority V, VII, VIII & IX eligibility certificate to be signed only by CO/OC Unit orOIC Records.
  • Self attested photocopies of Education Entitlement Card, latest Pension Payment Order, Special/Liberalized family pension, Battle Casualty Certificate, Casualty Indicating Disability or documentary proof of Gallantry Award(copy of Gazette Notification and Part II Order), as applicable.
  • Passport size photograph.
