ECHS is providing dedicated service to the veterans and their dependents since its inception. However, due to some situational requirement and administrative reasons, at various level, some ECHS beneficiaries feel harassed and reported the matter related to referral issues to the authorities.

As per present policies, once the ECHS referred for treatment to any external hosptals/specialist, it can be used upto 6 months for once only. It causes difficulties where multiple consultaton required for the same issue.

After active consideration of the matter by the Regional Centre ECHS, instructions have been issued duly resolved the difficulties and multiple consulttion on single referreal allowed.

Subject : ADVISORY FOR TREATMENT/ INVESTIGATIONS IN RESPECT OF ECHS BENEFICIARI AVAILING TREATMENT FOR DIABETES. HYPERTENSION & CARDIAC. DIALYSIS AND CANCER

2. Many representation has been received that polyclinics are not issuing referrals with 6 months of validity for chronic disease, diabetes, hypertension and other cardiac diseases, dialysis and cancer patient.

3. As per MoD,DESW letter dated 05 Jul 2013 c1early states that referral With validity Of six months from the date Of issue the original prescription undergoing the prescribed investigation/treatment procedure to be conducted at intervals as advised by ECHS/Service/ Govt Specialist Over a period Of six months to be the issued. The same permission (referral) letter shall be valid for undergoing the prescribed treatment procedure/investigations on multiple times during the six months, at intervals as advised by the ECHS/Service/ Govt Specialist.

4. The contents of the letter is reiterated and no veteran will be harassed or denied the facilities as per Govt permissions.
