November is only a few days to start. It is time to submit your life certificate. In India, pensioners, including defense pensioners, can submit their life certificates through various means. Here are the most common methods:
Jeevan Pramaan (Digital Life Certificate) which is Aadhaar Based
Various ways to submit Life Certificate through Jeevan Praman System of authentication
Visit a Jeevan Pramaan Centre – Pensioners can visit a nearby Jeevan Pramaan Centre with their Aadhaar card, Latest PPO/Pension Slip and bank passbook. These centers are set up by the government to assist pensioners in generating digital life certificates. SPARSH Pensioners also may use this system.
Complete DLC process Using your own PC or Mobile – Pensioners can also download the Jeevan Pramaan application on their computer or mobile device. They need to provide an Aadhaar number, Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, bank account details, and mobile number to generate the certificate.
Biometric Authentication through Biometric device – The pensioner’s fingerprints are captured using a biometric device to generate the digital life certificate. Now a days, face authentication/ IRIS authentication also introduced.
SMS Based DLC : Some pension disbursing agencies allow pensioners to generate the life certificate by sending an SMS with specified keywords to a designated number.
Life Certificate Through Bank Branches
LC in Bank Branches – Pensioners can visit their respective bank branches (where their pension account is held) and submit the life certificate. Many banks also offer facilities for digital life certificate generation.
Life Certificate Through ATM – Some banks provide the facility to submit a life certificate through their ATMs. Pensioners can inquire with their bank if this service is available.
Life Certificate through Mobile Apps
Pension Disbursing Bank Apps – Several banks in India have their mobile applications that offer services including digital life certificate submission. Pensioners can log in to the app and follow the instructions to submit the life certificate.
Common Service Centers (CSCs) for DLC and other SPARSH/ Pension related issues
Visit CSCs to submit your DLC – Pensioners can visit Common Service Centers to avail various government services, including the generation of a digital life certificate. CSCs are usually available in local areas and provide assistance in generating Jeevan Pramaan.
Home Visits for Life certificate authentication
For Elderly or Disabled Pensioners – In some cases, where pensioners are unable to visit centers or banks, representatives from banks or government agencies may conduct home visits to capture biometric data and generate the digital life certificate.

It’s important for pensioners to check with their respective banks and government authorities regarding the specific methods available to them, as the procedures and options might vary based on the pension disbursing agency.
Here are the steps to upload the Mannual life Certificate which can be done without any Biometric Device. Just need to have a PC/laptop/Android Phone.
Step-1 Open the website of SPARSH in your LAPTOP or PC which must have an internet connection. Link provided below.(URL- sparsh.defencepension.gov.in).
Step – 2 Log into the portal account using your credentials.
Step – 3 Click on the “Life Certificate / Identification” menu available in the left panel and right List of the page.
Step – 4 Click on “Perform Life Certificate/ Identification” . You may opt to submit a digital Life Certificate and need not to upload anything. If you have opted for the Aadhar option, you need to access the Aadhar linked mobile where you will receive the OTP thereafter the biometric scan of your fingerprint will be given. Since you do not want to use Biometric Device, choose MLC option as it appears on the screen.
Step- 5 You will find 2 options in this screen “Mannual Life Certificate” and “Aadhar“. Click on Mannual Life Certificate option. Once selected on manual Life Certificate Option, and then click on “Initiate Request” to download MLC and create Life Certificate/ Identification request. You need not to put MLC Number here. You will have option to download MLC here. Now get a printout of your MLC and get it signed by a Gazetted officer and fill it up as required. Then make a scanned copy of it (pdf ) and keep in your device.
Step -6 – Now again login to the SPARSH Portal and Repeat the screen as step 1 to 4 . In the next step at step 5 – you need to put your MLC number as mentioned on the MLC printed and signed by a gazetted officer – required to be entered here and click on “initiate request” button to submit your Life Certificate (MLC), complete the next steps by putting the requisite data and submit your life certificate. Now it is done.
