Government employees were in great trouble consequent upon Privatization of Air India as they were in doubt if it may effect adversely on their travel entitlement. But the Govt authority has clarified now and all doubts on the related matter has been cleared after Publication of Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure Letter No 19024/03/2021-E.IV dated 16th February 2022.
This is the second memorandum on Modification of instructions regarding Air Travel on Government account.
Earlier, Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure issued instruction on 31.12.2021 regarding booking of air tickets on Government account after disinvestment of Air India through three authorized agencies viz. Balmer & Lawrie, IRCTC and Ashok Travels.
The Finance Ministry has received several queries seeking clarification regarding booking of air tickets for Domestic and International travel by private airlines in view of the disinvestment of Air India.
As per OM published in public domain, Finance Secretary & Secretary (Expenditure) has given approval that the air travel on Government account both Domestic (including LTC) and International travel can be made by private airlines. However, tickets may be purchased only through the above three authorized agents.
