Provision of combat uniforms for the Army Navy AF through CSD
Present practice of provision of Combat Uniform for soldiers is not fully regulated by Armed Forces. The soldiers are free to purchase these unform from Open Market. To ensure nation saffety and security, the top management of Indian Armed Forces has decided to make availble these uniforms in CSD.
Para 6.9 of the Report of Standing Committee on Defence in 17th Lok Sabha for the year 2021-22 has proposed that the stitched uniform may be available in CSD soon. The Committee have learnt that this initiative is being taken by the Defence authority to keep the sanctity of the uniform as well as safety and security of the Indian Armed Forces.
The original report of the Committee is reproduced below : Para 6.9 : The Committee have learnt that for officers in the Army, the new stitched combat uniforms will be provided through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD), which will also cater to the additional uniforms the JCOs and Jawans may require. In this connection, the 129 Committee desired to know whether foolproof mechanism has been devised by CSD to ensure that the new stitched combat uniforms are provided to genuine users i.e. Armed Forces personnel and are not misused.
