Govt waste land is allotted to the Veterans and Soldiers As a livelyhood support to our veterans, soldiers are allowed to avail facility of allotment of Govt Waste land in their own area of living. Ministry of Defence has launched a scheme in the year 1964 and all state Govt were requested to allot Government waste lands to serving personnel of Defence Services. As a measure of rehabilitation govt has faciliated the ESM community to earn livelihood with minimum support from the state. The Serving soldiers and ESM may follow the process to get the benefit as introduced by the Govt.

You might have noticed that soldiers submit their petition to their commanding officer for recommendation and further forward of their petition to the District collector for allotment of Govt Waste Land. Under the said scheme, you may, through proper channel, apply for allocation of Government waste land, indicating certain Government waste lands, to the Commanding officer of your unit. Your CO will forward this application to the District Collectorate/ District magistrate concerned, for necessary action at his end, where, according to the most of the petitioner it has been found that, the same is kept pending, without any action, which is unfortunate.   Then there are left no way other than to approach the judiciary system.

There is a confusion in this matter regarding authority for the allotment. So, here is the authority letter reerence and you can now put this in your application. Moreover, you must keep close liasion with the administrative authority after your application is recceived by the district HQ/ZSB.

This scheme is open to all serving soldiers of all state subject to availability of land. So you may search such Govt Waste land and may apply through proper channel. Exservicemen in some state are also allowed subject to provision of the rules and regulations/ welfare schemes of the state concerned.

How to Apply for allotment of Govt waste Land

You should submit a petition to your commanding officer addressed to the District Collector through proper channel. You may mention the authority for the welfare scheme as mentioned above and enclose the details of land for which you are applying alongwith this format of annexure.
